Sonic Mania wasn’t the only new Sonic game revealed at the 25th Anniversary Party. At the end of the stream, Takashi Iizuka revealed the debut trailer for Sonic Team’s next game. Like Sonic Generations, the game will feature both Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic. However, Iizuka stressed that this isn’t a sequel, so it’s not Generations 2.It also appears that the game will have a dark and serious story line. If so, hopefully it won’t be as bad as the series’ previous attempts at having one of those. The game doesn’t have a name yet aside from a working title, Project Sonic 2017, but they did announce that it’ll be released on PS4, Xbox One, NX (!) and PC during Holiday 2017

Now, Telltale’s latest episodic game has popped up on a list of projects affected by the ongoing US voice-actor strike, officially listed as Guardians of the Galaxy – The Video Game aka. Blue Harvest (thanks, ComicBookMovie). Blue Harvest is likely a fake working-title – just as it was used for Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. We haven’t heard whether the game will follow Marvel’s comics continuity or show the big-screen Marvel Cinematic Universe version. The latter option would be timely, however, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is due for release in cinemas during April next year. Telltale’s project could act as a companion to the films. Telltale told a similar type of story with its Game of Thrones series, which featured key actors from the TV show in a story set within its universe.

Patrick Söderlund, executive vice president of EA Studios, announced the company’s EA Originals program during the company’s pre-E3 press briefing this year. The initiative is designed to help bring to market indie games that are “unique, gorgeous, innovative and memorable,” said Söderlund at the time. Developers working on EA Originals titles will receive funding for development, marketing and publishing, as well as more of the profits than they would get in a traditional publishing arrangement.
Sea of Solitude is the second EA Originals title. EA unveiled the program with Fe, another exploration-oriented 3D platformer that is being developed by Zoink Games.
“Like Fe, our first EA Originals title, Sea of Solitude captures the essence of the games we want players to discover through EA Originals,” said Söderlund, adding that Sea of Solitude tells a story that is “personal and human, and one that carries a powerful message.”
